About Giclée Art

Definition:  Giclée (zhee-klay) – The French word “giclée” is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb “gicler” meaning ” to squirt”. A Giclee print is an image generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks on any number of media, from water color paper to canvas.

Castle Café images are printed on canvas to create a vibrant “oil painting” effect. The Giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.

Giclee prints are advantageous to artists who want to reproduce their art as needed, or on-demand while creating incredibly detailed prints for both the photographic and fine art markets.   Giclee prints are commonly found in museums, photographic galleries, and art galleries.
